One Sunday Morning, I cruised up to Coffee and Cars at the JBA Performance Center in San Diego, California. Special guests included Mark Maynard from San Diego Union-Tribune, and Dave Stall who features cars on KUSI’s morning news. Both of them are involved in anything that has to do with cars. They were both there to feature the new 2011 392 Hemi powered Dodge Challenger SRT8. As I pulled up to a parking spot, people started to walk over to check out my 1962 Ford Falcon. Unexpectedly, Dave Stall and Mark Maynard interviewed me with my daughter. This is not to pull attention away from the Dodge Challenger, but people seemed to be drawn to my Falcon. It’s not a show car, and needs a lot of work to get it to show standards. It has the typical lower body rust bubbles and bondo. The under carriage has over 40 years of road grime and rust. The interior is the best thing on the car. I did a custom interior restoration on it 10 years ago. I guess you can call it a nice daily driver. I’ve parked my Falcon next to $100,000 (BAD ASS) show cars, and for some reason I get a crowd of people around my car. I think it is because many of them have a Falcon story, or some relation to it. Maybe they’ve owned one, or their parents owned one at sometime in their lives. After all, they were a very affordable economy car at a whopping $1,985 base price. The Ford Falcon is just one of those Classics Cars that look cool without putting much money in them. I’ve heard them being called “Ubercool”, and the women think their cute……..Maybe it’s just the fender skirts.

Promoting Balboa Rendezvous Swing Dancing Spectacular on San Diego’s KUSI News
“They were swingin’ in the KUSI parking lot on Friday as we got a preview of the Balboa Rendezvous swing dancing spectacular in Balboa Park, running from April 8-11.” Quoted from KUSI News. I had the oppurtunity to have my 1962 Ford Falcon on the KUSI Morning News to help promote Balboa Rendezvous Swing Dancing Spectacular in San Diego. The day before, I received a phone call asking if they could use my car for the Friday morning taping of the show. Without hesitation, I said yes. I had a lot of fun, and even got to meet San Diego Padre’s Hall of Famer, Randy Jones. How cool is that?
