The Wife Cruising the 1966 Mustang On 4th Of July

Posted on

This year I took both my 1962 Falcon and 1966 Mustang to a local 4th of July car show with my wife and daughter. I haven’t taken both cars to the same car show since 2000.  My wife drove the Ford Falcon to both car shows.  For the first time in the 16 years we’ve been together, I handed her the keys to the Ford Mustang. After the car show, we took a little cruise through the local mountains.  I wanted to capture a good video, so I drove a few mile ahead to video her coming around the corners. You’ll notice my Falcon parked on the side of the road. She had a smile ear to ear the whole time. After the cruise, my wife said she noticed that the Mustang was a little sluggish on the freeway compared to the Falcon. Also, she asked me how do I know if the emergency brake is off. Immediately after, I noticed white smoke billowing from the rear brakes. I didn’t want to ruin the fun she had driving it, so I didn’t get mad at her…… Brake drums and brake shoes $250. Smile on my wife’s face, priceless.

We all had a lot of fun

2010 Fabulous Fords Forever

2010 Fabulous Fords Forever hosted another great Car Show for the Ford Enthusiasts at Knotts Berry Farm.  This year, I cruised my 1966 Ford Mustang along side a blue 1965 Ford Mustang owned by my friend Mike. Along the way, we shared the road with Fords dating as far back as the 1920′s. Even though the attendance was lower than past years, there seemed to be a few more Ford Six Cylinders then usual. Although the show honored the Ford Falcons, I did not take my 1962 Ford Falcon this year. Also, this was the first all-day car show that I’ve taken my 5 year daughter to.  I have tested the limits of a 5 year old’s attention span. I think we will stick with the cruise nights for a while. They’re much shorter.
